Redbud Celebrates Grand Opening of New Hazard Office

Supporters Attend Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

HAZARD, Ky. (Jan. 14, 2026) — Redbud Financial Alternatives celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its new permanent office location at 825 High Street in Hazard on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at noon, marking an important milestone in the organization’s mission to expand access to safe, affordable financial services across Eastern Kentucky.

The ribbon cutting was held in partnership with the Hazard-Perry County Chamber of Commerce and drew a strong turnout of community partners, local elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and supporters. Attendees included City of Hazard Mayor Happy Mobelini, Perry County Judge-Executive Scott Alexander, representatives from state and federal offices, economic development leaders, and regional nonprofit partners.

Redbud Financial Alternatives is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and an affiliate of Housing Development Alliance, Inc. (HDA). Since its founding in 2016, Redbud has provided fair and responsible lending options to individuals who often lack access to traditional financial institutions.

“Redbud is excited to move into our permanent location, which gives our community easier and more consistent access to our services,” said James Caudill, Managing Director of Redbud Financial Alternatives. "Since 2016, Redbud has served more than 750 borrowers, deployed over $5.1 million in affordable loans, and helped our clients save more than $1.7 million in interest and fees they would have otherwise paid to predatory lenders. We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming community support demonstrated by the strong attendance at today’s ribbon cutting.”

The new office strengthens Redbud’s ability to serve residents and workers throughout Perry, Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and surrounding counties by providing a centralized, accessible space for lending, financial coaching, and community engagement.

Scott McReynolds, Executive Director of Housing Development Alliance, Inc., praised the milestone as a reflection of both impact and partnership.

“Redbud Financial Alternatives embodies what community-driven economic development looks like in practice,” McReynolds said. “This new office represents stability, growth, and a long-term commitment to families and workers across Eastern Kentucky. HDA is proud to support Redbud’s work and celebrate this important step forward in expanding financial opportunity and protecting members of our community from predatory lending.”
