HDA to Dedicate Five New Model Homes at Skyview

HAZARD, Ky. (August 19, 2025) – The Housing Development Alliance, Inc. (HDA) invites the community to celebrate the dedication of five new, affordable model homes for flood survivors at Skyview, a high-ground neighborhood designed to provide safety and stability in Eastern Kentucky.

Date: Tuesday, August 26, 2025

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Location: Skyview Community, Off Highway 80 near Frontline Ministries in Hazard, KY

Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman will be on hand to deliver a special address, joining flood survivor homeowners, community leaders, and partner organizations for this milestone event. The program will include:

“We’re proud to stand with families who faced unimaginable loss,” said HDA Executive Director Scott McReynolds. “Skyview is more than a collection of houses—it’s proof that, together, we can build hope on higher ground.”

Skyview’s first phase offers:

  • Four three-bedroom, two-bath homes and one four-bedroom, two-bath home priced affordably for low-income and flood-impacted families
  • Net-zero energy features, including solar panels and high-efficiency insulation
  • Safe, walkable streets with community green spaces and accessible pathways

Critical funding for this project was provided by the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund and a Community Project Funding grant secured by Congressman Hal Rogers.

Representatives from Team Kentucky and the Department for Local Government will attend the event, highlighting state-wide support for disaster recovery and affordable housing initiatives in our region.

Congressman Rogers’ office has also been invited to join the dedication ceremony and celebrate this achievement alongside residents and partners.

Skyview is a true community endeavor, fueled by contributions from individual donors and local contractors working hand-in-hand with municipal and county officials. At the state level, Team Kentucky played a pivotal role—providing funding, logistical support, and advocacy to ensure timely construction and lasting impact. Federal agencies and representatives rounded out the partnership, underscoring a unified commitment to recovery and resilience.

This event is free and open to the public.
