In addition to Flood Relief & Recovery, we are currently scheduling volunteers to serve in our traditional Volunteer Program. Opportunities are available for Winter Break (2022-23), Spring Break (2023), Fall Break (2023), and the Ultimate House Raising Challenge (please consult our Volunteer Coordinator for details), as well as at other times in the year depending on our schedule. We welcome College Mission Trips, Youth Mission Trips, Church Groups/Missions, Corporate Groups/Retreats, and Older Adult Groups/Missions. We also love having volunteer teams from local civic groups, businesses, churches, schools, and more! If your heart is eager to serve, the families of East Kentucky need you.
HDA’s new home construction and home repair projects are completed by our staff carpenters with local subcontractors, and we utilize volunteer labor for several key tasks, including:
Volunteers work at sites throughout Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and Perry Counties in East Kentucky. These counties are listed as “distressed” by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and have some of the highest poverty rates in the nation. Most of our worksites are in remote areas, in mountain hollows, and on reclaimed mine lands. We also have worksites within the city limits of four mountain towns: Hazard, Hindman, Hyden, and Jackson.
Please contact us to find out more about our projects and volunteer opportunities!
