Give to HDA

Every donation helps East Kentucky flood survivors and low-income people in need have homes they can afford.

Each gift we receive is like a key that opens a locked door leading to new possibilities, opportunities, futures, and hope. Donations and support from friends like you help East Kentucky flood survivors recover from the loss of their homes and low-income people gain strength, the dignity they deserve, and financial stability through the Housing Development Alliance (HDA) by building new, quality, affordable homes and making existing homes better, safer, and more accessible.

Special Giving Opportunities

The Housing Can't Wait Fund

Help Provide Flood Recovery! On July 28, 2022, historic flash flooding devastated Eastern Kentucky. Our service area was particularly hard hit, with folks in Breathitt, Knott, and Perry counties losing their homes, whole neighborhoods, and family members. HDA was quick to respond to the disaster, mobilizing our carpenters and volunteers to help folks in need of muck outs, cleanup, mold prevention & more. But make no mistake - this is a long-term disaster recovery effort and we need your help! Please donate today to help us rebuild our community.

From the COVID pandemic to weather-related disasters, the current times have shown all of us the importance of having a good home. The low-income individuals and families helped by HDA are prepared for homeownership by our Housing Counselor and provide up to 150 hours of sweat equity in the building of their own homes, pay affordable mortgages, and are deeply grateful and appreciative of your donations. Homeowners receiving repairs and home rehabilitations are also greatly helped by you and are equally grateful to have their homes made better, more sound, and much healthier places to live.

We believe the path to ending generational poverty in East Kentucky begins at the front steps of an affordable home. Please help us help more of our mountain people by giving today. You can give online or by postal mail by sending a check or money order to Housing Development Alliance, Inc., P.O. Box 7284, Hazard, KY 41702.

Gifts In-Kind

We gratefully accept donations of construction materials and services. With the current high cost of materials, in-kind gifts are very much needed for our programs and events. Find out more about this type of giving and how to make this gift below.

Support Hope Building

We hope to keep this grant-funded program going for many years to come! Help us continue to provide paid, on-the-job training in residential construction for men and women in recovery.

Gifts in Honor or in Memory

Pay tribute to a family member, friend, or loved one who has passed on, or celebrate someone dear to you who is still living with a gift in their name. Naming opportunities for major gifts are also available.

Event Sponsorships

Individuals as well as local businesses, civic groups, and corporations are invited to purchase event sponsorships as part of HDA's fundraising efforts during the year. All proceeds help the people we serve.

Gifts of Real Property (Real Estate)

It is our policy to accept gifts of real estate (developed property, undeveloped property, or gifts subject to a prior life interest) provided the gift has a clear potential for contributing to HDA's overall purpose and mission.

Securities

Donate your long-term appreciated securities, including stock, bonds, and mutual funds, to help us provide affordable housing far into the future. As long as you have held the stock for over a year, you will notice the value in not having to pay capital gains taxes.

Donate a Truck

HDA relies on our service trucks to transport crew members, Hope Building trainees, summer interns, equipment, tools, and materials to our work sites. We generally need to replace one to two vehicles a year to keep up with production demands.
